Hammonds Fitted Furniture

We ordered over £4,000 of fitted furniture from Hammonds months in advance specifically so our baby's room would be finished well before the birth. Installation was supposed to be completed on 28 June. We are now 7.5 months pregnant and, nearly two months later, it is still not finished. This has not been one unfortunate delay. It has been a chain of failures: • The furniture arrived manufactured to the wrong design, despite us paying around £600 extra for the amended version. • Numerous brand-new fronts had manufacturing defects, including bubbling and creased/folded edges. • Replacement components were also incorrect or defective. • A replacement bookcase was made to the wrong dimensions. • The replacement worktop arrived damaged. • A second replacement worktop was also defective and was refused for installation by Hammonds' own carpenter, Jerry, who has been excellent throughout and is absolutely not the problem. • We were repeatedly assured that another worktop would arrive before the next appointment. It didn't — and we later discovered it had not even been prepared for dispatch. • When another worktop finally arrived, the fitter unpacked it and found that defective too. • We are now on the fifth worktop, after four previous attempts have failed due to damage, defects or delivery problems. There have now been multiple failed installation/remedial visits, incorrect deliveries, defective replacements and repeated chasing for updates from customer service. At this point, the obvious solution would be to cancel the order and go elsewhere. Unfortunately, Hammonds' repeated failures have effectively taken that option away from us. We are 7.5 months pregnant. Starting again with another company now would mean another design, measurements, manufacturing, delivery and installation — potentially with a newborn in the house. That is exactly what ordering months in advance was supposed to prevent. We didn't spend over £4,000 because we urgently wanted prettier cupboards. We wanted our baby's room finished, our belongings organised, and the disruption of drilling, deliveries and installation completed before the final weeks of pregnancy. Instead, as the birth gets closer, we are still living with an unfinished room, large furniture components stored around our home, and yet another replacement and installation appointment to arrange. The disappointing part is not one mistake. Mistakes happen. It is the repeated failure across design, manufacturing, quality control, logistics and customer service, with each problem creating another delay. We don't need another apology or another promise that someone will call us back. We need Hammonds to take ownership, properly quality-check the outstanding parts, and finally finish the furniture we paid for. We planned months ahead specifically to avoid dealing with this when our baby was about to arrive. Hammonds has used up that entire buffer. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Such an amazing showroom, displaying all bedroom types and options. Member of staff was very helpful and friendly escorting me around. Would definitely recommend a visit should you be considering a bedroom upgrade.

Sara was incredibly helpful in locating the correct shelf support pegs from the store inventory for a Hammonds furniture unit fitted last year. Some pegs were missed by the original fitter, which caused the shelf to bow. Sara’s professionalism, attention to detail, and positive attitude made all the difference. We visited Hammond's today and met Sara. It was a great experience as I was so confused and my wife is the planner, Sara was very accommodating as she was patient and gave us a good insight about the models, colours and also features that we hadn't recognised while surfing online. Overall it was a pleasant visit.😀
