Wickes Sunderland

Wickes traces its name to 1854, when Henry Dunn Wickes and his brother established a lumber business in Michigan, USA. The first UK Wickes store opened in 1972 in Whitefield, Manchester, and the company was the first fixed-price builders merchant in the UK. Wickes now operates over 230 stores as a multi-channel retailer. Its legal entity is Wickes Building Supplies Limited.

The Sunderland branch provides kitchen fitting and showroom services. It offers a Paint Mixing Service and a Professional Installation Service, along with free design appointments. A dedicated team of kitchen Design Consultants and trusted installers supports the service, with virtual and face-to-face appointments available.

Kitchen design appointments and the wider spread of building, bathroom, door, flooring, paint and garden supplies frame the feedback on this Sunderland branch, where the conduct and product knowledge of the team emerge as the strongest recurring theme. Adil is singled out for design consultations, with customers describing thorough guidance and a finished layout that delighted them. Charlotte and Dawn are named for professional, courteous and consistently cheerful service, while other members of staff are praised for helping shoppers track down everything from door numbers to a precise paint shade, including mixing a colour in store when the equipment proved difficult.

Click-and-collect orders are described as swiftly handled, with purchases carried to vehicles, and issues with individual items sorted with little inconvenience. Reviewers also note well-stocked shelves and prices they regard as reasonable, especially across the outdoor garden lines. The branch is described as welcoming to dogs, and the general impression is that quick trips for everyday DIY essentials tend to turn into repeat visits, supported by the breadth of kitchen furniture, tiles, doors and landscaping supplies on offer.
