SM Fitted Wardrobes

Started looking into fitted wardrobes back in the spring after years of putting up with mismatched freestanding units that never quite worked. Got three quotes in total and these came somewhere in the middle on price but the designer was the only one who properly sat down and asked what we actually needed to store. That made a big difference in the layout we ended up with. There was about a five week wait for the install which was longer than I would have liked but they were upfront about it. When the fitting day came the two lads arrived early, worked steadily through the day and had it up and finished by early evening. There was a small snag with one of the drawer fronts not sitting quite flush and they sent someone back within the week to adjust it. The finished wardrobes are a proper upgrade on what we had before.

Went for a walk in wardrobe conversion in the spare room. They built out shelving on three walls, added a shoe rack, a jewellery drawer with felt lining, and a section with pull down rails so you can reach the higher stuff. The lighting behind the shelves gives it a really nice look. It has completely changed how we use that room. The whole build was done in 4 days and their fitter proved easy to have around. Quality of the joinery is really good.

The wardrobe fits perfectly into what was a really awkward corner of the bedroom. Two other companies I got quotes from in London basically told me it couldn't be done without losing a lot of space, but these guys worked out a design that uses every inch. The build quality is noticeably better than the bedroom furniture we had before. Doors line up properly, drawers slide well, and the whole thing feels like it will last. Good bit of joinery.

Took us months to find someone willing to take on something that wasn't a standard wardrobe job. SM was the third carpenter we spoke to and the first one who actually seemed interested in figuring out how to make the design work rather than talking us out of it. We got two different layout options. We picked one, made a couple of small changes, and the build happened around six weeks after that. Install was two and a bit days. The desk surface sits flush with the unit and the doors close properly even though nothing in that wall is straight. Pleased we waited for the right person to do it.

Got a fitted wardrobe made for a small room and it uses the space properly now. Shelves, hanging area, top storage - all where they should be. It doesn’t stick out too far either which was a big deal. We are near lslington and the en result feels spot on for the room.
