Fantastic help from the sales assistant Parveen who took the time to explain all of our options regarding bedroom furniture.
How wonderful to go into a store and feel welcome. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Furniture laid out in a way that’s shows the styles and accessories. The designer that visited our home the day before, Amy, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and thoughtful. Thank you
We chose Hammonds because we were promised a smooth, professional, end-to-end service. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. We placed our order in October with installation scheduled for December so it would be completed before Christmas. Instead, due to repeated issues and remedial works, it was not fully resolved until February. What should have been a straightforward installation turned into a four-month process. The problems began at the design stage. After the initial visit, the surveyor identified multiple errors in the designer’s plans, including a failure to account for a ceiling beam. The design had to be redone before fitting could proceed. A second survey then took place, yet further key issues were still missed. On installation day, we were asked where the fitter’s workspace was for sawing equipment. We had never been told that a separate working area would be required. Had we not had an outhouse available, the job would have had to be cancelled. This should have been identified and communicated during the survey. More seriously, neither survey identified that the fitted units would obstruct our window shutter blinds. We were forced to make an on-the-spot decision about compromising the usability of a window — something that should have been picked up well in advance. The shelving issue was even more concerning. Our wall is plasterboard, which should absolutely have been assessed during survey. Shelves were installed incorrectly and began sinking. We were given conflicting advice by different fitters. When the second fitter called ahead of his remedial visit, he admitted he wasn’t aware of what remained to be fixed, couldn’t contact the original fitter, and said Hammonds hadn’t properly updated him. He then arrived without the correct fittings and informed us the original shelving specification would never have worked on plasterboard. New shelves had to be manufactured. This resulted in further delays and additional visits. We have also been left with unnecessary holes in the wall from the incorrect installation, which are difficult to fill properly due to their proximity to the corrected shelving. As a direct result of these repeated failures, I had to take additional unplanned days off work, resulting in lost income. All of this stemmed from basic survey and planning errors that should have been avoided. The installation has now finally been completed, but the journey was stressful, disorganised and far below what you would expect for a £3,597 installation. After raising a formal complaint, we were offered £85 in compensation. Given the extended timeline, multiple service failures, additional visits, poor communication and lost income, this felt like a token gesture rather than meaningful resolution. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Hammonds. For an investment of this size, customers should expect far better coordination and attention to detail. We would strongly suggest others carefully consider their options and take their hard-earned money elsewhere.
We went in to the Hammonds store at Erdington on Sunday for a look at some of the stair space design options. We were greeted with a very welcoming lady called Parveen. She asked us whether she could be of any help and let us browse at the stock and colours they were showing at the store. I would like to thank her very much as she was very professional answered all our questions and is an absolute credit to the company
Such a helpful team and brilliant showroom with lots of great examples of the styles on offer.
Just been in store, they have enticing showroom and display. Set up in a manor of modern art to adhere to all households with different colour themes and rooms. Staff were absolutely wholesome and were very informative with any specific needs.
Great showroom with plenty of design ideas. Mikaela was extremely helpful and supplied us with colour swatches to take away. Overall a great experience.
