Howdens - Portsmouth

Howdens was established in 1995 as a British manufacturer. It began with 14 depots and now operates nearly 900 locations. The company holds a Royal Warrant by Appointment to His Majesty the King since 2025. Mintel named Howdens the UK's number one supplier of trade kitchens in 2025. Howdens operates a trade-only model, selling only to trade professionals, and has more than 470,000 loyal trade professionals.

Its cabinets are manufactured in the UK from FSC and PEFC certified materials and carry a 25-year guarantee. Lamona appliances come with a 3-year guarantee as standard. Howdens sells more than 2.7 million doors each year. Expo showrooms are located in Raunds, Howden, and London. The company provides kitchens, joinery, and hardware products.

Trade customers fitting kitchens in Portsmouth describe a depot shaped around their needs, with pre-assembled units, Blum hinges and solid-backed base cabinets noted for build quality. Something that features in review after review is the depth of stock held on the shelf, spanning a wide range of styles alongside doors, flooring, skirting and architrave, with favourable deals mentioned. The service draws repeated praise: staff are called friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and Shannon is singled out for taking time to show a customer around the door options, while the design team earns credit for going the extra mile on layouts.

Design support more broadly is well regarded, with customers reporting good results from plans drawn up for their builders to install. Advice and assistance are readily given, even to those navigating trade purchasing for the first time, and several describe returning over years for further projects, pointing to dependable stock levels and reliable backup on appliances such as ovens and gas hobs. Those sourcing a full kitchen for a builder to fit value the range of doors and internals, and the consistent helpfulness of the team keeps them coming back.
