The Shires Granite & Quartz Worktops - By Appointment only

We cannot recommend Neil highly enough. From the very first conversation to the finished work, the professionalism, craftsmanship, and attention to detail were outstanding. The quality of his granite and quartz work exceeded all expectations, with every detail completed to an exceptionally high standard. It's clear that he takes immense pride in his craft, combining traditional skills with a meticulous eye for precision. The finished result is not only beautifully executed but built to last. Neil went out of his way to make sure that we obtained exactly what we wanted, first visiting a local Northampton based wholesalers with us and when we didn't find just what we were looking for he made time to drive down to larger wholesalers in Rickmansworth! Here we found just the right granite for our home. If you're looking for a talented, trustworthy, and highly skilled stonemason, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Neil. Outstanding workmanship, excellent customer service, and exceptional value for money. Five stars in every respect!

Excellent service from Neil who came out to us very promptly to help sort out some marks on our Quartz worktop. He removed them and left the whole island surface in a much better condition than it was. Friendly, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced, we would thoroughly recommend.

If you are intending to upgrade your kitchen with a Quartz Worktop look no further than The Shires Granite and Quartz website. The owner Neil is a diligent, highly skilled, friendly and accommodating person. Once the ideal working surface had been sourced (a light cream ) the whole process of removing existing laminate worktops and wall tiles, templating and installation of new quartz worktops, up stands , splash backs and sink took less than a week. I would fully recommend this company. Before and after photos are attached.

Neil agreed to recut and fit some previously used quartz worktops, where other local suppliers wouldn’t. When fitting them Neil realised he had cut a piece wrong, as it had a sink installed, and he had rotated it when cutting. He offered to replace the piece at his cost and to our surprise when he fitted all tops he had replaced every piece. He also offered to create a matching large upstand, window sill and hob upstand at a very reasonable cost which we agreed. The finished pieces all look fantastic and are a higher quartz content than we originally had. Neil has been fantastic throughout the process, despite the cost to himself, and I would highly recommend him for any stone masoning work. As an extra, the sink got damaged when being removed from the original worktop and Neil offered to pay for a replacement, which we accepted, although I did go halves with him on that cost. Neil is very dedicated, friendly and professional and I only wish more suppliers/tradespersons were as good to deal with.

Neil was very helpful, professional and friendly. From the initial choosing of our worktops, through to the fitting of them, (which was a quick turnaround), he advised us every step of the way. They look fabulous. We would definitely recommend him every time.

We recently upgraded our en suite and wanted to change a boring counter top sink worktop into something more complimentary to the units and stone tiling. Enter Google search and up popped The Shires and Neil...local to boot! I didn't really think he would help as it was a smallish job. However, Neil replied quickly to my initial phone call affirming that 'we do anything' (within reason). Within 24 hours, samples were dropped off, measurements taken and a very acceptable quote given. Neil was very pleasant and helpful throughout. He knows his products very well and gives good advice. We now have a stunning top to our unit which has on it's own really elevated the total look of the en suite. I highly recommend! Thank you so much Neil 😀

Neil was recommended to me when I needed a recess in my quartz worktop enlarging to fit a new hob. A small, fiddly little job in the whole scheme of kitchen refits, but Neil couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He clearly knows his business and was quickly able to complete the work needed. If ever I need a bigger project doing, I wouldn't hesitate to contact him again. Highly recommended.
