About the company

Sheffield Kitchen Outlet Ltd was founded in 2004 as a trade-only kitchen manufacturer on Carlisle Street East in Sheffield by Stuart, Daniel and Wendy Hattersley. The company employs over 50 people locally and is a member of the 'Made In Sheffield' brand, having been approved in 2021. It manufactures bespoke kitchens, bedrooms, media furniture, and home office furniture at its Yorkshire factory, using EGGER high quality board for cabinets, HETTICH hinge systems and drawer boxes with soft close as standard, and Vauth-Sagel wirework and pull outs.

In 2019, it moved production to a new factory on Julian Road, investing over £1.5 million in the building and new machinery. It has showrooms in Sheffield and Leeds, with over 80 kitchen and bedroom displays across all showrooms. Services include a free home survey within 50 miles of its Sheffield or Leeds showrooms, an approved installers scheme, additional work such as plastering, electrics, and minor building work, and finance subject to age, status, and minimum spend.

What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Quality of finish and workmanship is the theme that surfaces most often in feedback about this Sheffield company, with the design and fitting process described as running smoothly from first consultation to completion. Designers including Jamie, Rob, Aaron and Richard are credited with listening closely, giving honest and realistic advice, and finding ways to make the most of compact or awkward layouts. Fitters such as Josh, Steve and Stuart earn praise for meticulous attention to detail and installations built to last.

A point made in several accounts is how easy it is to speak directly with staff, and how promptly minor snags were put right, including a remedial visit arranged without additional cost. Several customers recall feeling under no pressure in the showroom, and describe pricing as clear, fair and competitive against other quotes they had gathered. Handleless and modern designs, warm worktops and neatly finished cupboards are singled out, alongside the friendly, helpful manner of the team generally. Follow-up home visits after delivery of the furniture and equipment are remembered as reassuring, and reviewers repeatedly note that the finished kitchens matched what had been promised at the design stage.

We visited the SKO Leeds showroom where we met Harry. We arranged home meeting where Harry attended and discussed with us our requirements. Later revisited to showroom where Harry had prepared a design and after some discussion and fine tuning we agreed on a design. Harry’s attention to details was first class in highlighting areas we never thought about.. Harry arranged fitting which was carried out by Shaun and his apprentice Mikey. Shaun was amazing and brought our new kitchen to life with the craftsmanship. Quartz worktops were arranged via Harry & Shaun and all went to plan.. Overall a superb service and installation from start to finish. Brilliant quality and finish. I would not hesitate to recommend SKO especially with Harry and Shaun. Thank you

I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received. Richard came to my home to measure my kitchen and took all the necessary measurements. He arranged for me to visit the showroom, but unfortunately I had to cancel because of work commitments and meetings. I explained that I already had quotes from Wren and Howdens, and I also showed him an AI-generated image of the kitchen style, colour, and design I wanted. Richard told me he would be able to provide me with a price. After that, I heard nothing. I then called the showroom myself to chase my quote. I was told that Richard was away on personal leave. I explained that I didn’t want to make the journey to the showroom if the kitchen was outside my budget, so I asked if they could give me a rough estimate first. I was told someone would get back to me. After hearing nothing, I called again over the weekend. I then called once more and was advised to send an email explaining everything, as they would then be able to provide me with a quote. I sent the email, which I still have proof of, but again received no response. As I still hadn’t heard anything, I called again. This time, I spoke to a member of staff who told me she had a quote for me of around £8,000. I explained that both Howdens and Wren had quoted me considerably less. She replied that their quote included fitting. I said that even with fitting included, the other quotes were still cheaper. She then told me they offered price matching and said she would get back to me. Once again, I heard nothing. Today, I had to call yet again for an update. The lady I spoke to said she would ask Richard, who originally visited my home, to call me back. When Richard called, instead of trying to understand what had happened, he immediately became confrontational. He accused me of lying, repeatedly saying that no one had given me a quote and that it was impossible that anyone had spoken to me or provided any pricing. His tone was rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. Rather than apologising for the confusion or saying he would listen to the recorded calls to establish what had happened, he immediately blamed me and accused me of making the whole thing up. I was so shocked and upset by the way I was spoken to that I ended the call. No customer should ever be treated in such a disrespectful and intimidating manner. The entire experience has been extremely disappointing, from the lack of communication and repeated failure to respond to my calls and email, to the unacceptable way I was spoken to when I simply tried to follow up on my quote.

From the moment me and my wife went into the Sheffield branch to the day the kitchen was finished, we knew we had made the right decision. Our salesman and point of contact throughout was Jamie. What we wanted for our home wasn’t straight forward at all. We called in and saw Jamie, talked about what we wanted and I had taken in some rough measurements of our room. Jamie came out and then could see what we was talking about. He went away and we got the call to go in. We went through everything. From what colour and styles of the cupboards and work tops to the type of white goods we wanted. After a good few hours we had it. He gave us the price, it wasn’t the cheapest quote but we knew we was getting a good quality kitchen. We opted for the kitchen to be installed by Karl one of the fitters. Karl was with us for the week and Jamie kept in touch all the time. Now we have a kitchen that we love and everyone who sees it is amazed. Thank you Karl for your fitting and Jamie thank you for everything else. From helping us design our bespoke kitchen including the spice rack to the wall hung cabinet under our tv. I will always recommend the company. Thank you Tony and Tracy

SKO were great from start to finish and I would recommend them. Their showroom in Sheffield is great and all the staff were friendly, providing helpful and sensible input into the design process. We decided to use one of the fitters SKO regularly work with and did have a couple of issues, but when I contacted SKO, they arranged for a remedial fitter to come out and resolve the snags, at no extra cost. The quality has been brilliant and the price was very attractive. We liked SKO so much that we also had them design and install some fitted storage in our lounge and have been recommending them to our friends. Thanks to Jamie and the team for such a good service and product.

We recently had our kitchen supplied and fitted by SKO. We are really happy with the results. From walking in to the showroom and meeting Richard the whole process was very professional. After visiting to measure up. Richard came up with a design that utilised previously unused space. The kitchen fitter Stuart also did a fantastic job, nothing was too much trouble for him and completed his work to an excellent standard.

Salesman and kitchen designer James was really good when he came out to measure up. He didn’t take up hours of our time. When we met up to go through the proposed design he had good ideas and recommendations based on his previous experience. One was a particular type of corner cupboard which is really practical and looks great. He also gave good advice on a Smith’s fan convector plinth heater instead of re-locating a radiator (at a significant additional expense), it works really well and heats the kitchen nicely. He was really knowledgeable on the oven and hob Neff products which proved invaluable. SKO are also one of the companies included in the list for Neff promotions, thanks to this we got £1350 cash back after purchasing a number of their appliances. SKO appliance prices are also very competitive. Our fitter was Jamie Sykes (from a friend recommendation), he signposted us to SKO as he is one of their official fitters and recommended the quality and price of SKO kitchens. Jamie was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and he is meticulous in his work, he organised the electrician and the plasterer, we didn’t have to do any of that. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. All the delivery dates provided by SKO were honoured and not a single item was missing or damaged. The only thing that didn’t come on the same delivery was the wine cooler unit and they let us know prior to delivery. It came a few days later as they promised and didn’t impact the installation. Re the quality of the cupboards, we are really pleased with them, they seem solid and durable. We also considered the total cost of the kitchen to be reasonable, considerably less than a quote we had from Wickes. Designer Surfaces in Sheffield supplied and fitted the quartz worktop, this worked well as SKO liaise with them re the design/sizes for a quotation. They were brilliant and have a good showroom which helps when choosing. Their prices are also considerably cheaper than quoted by Wickes for quartz worktop. Mark, the SKO Manager provided good after sales support regarding surplus extractor ducting, he didn’t hesitate to refund this when returned. In summary, I would have no hesitation in recommending SKO Kitchens.

Before we found SKO we had been to so many places for quotes and designs we chose SKO for the pricing and quality and the designer Richard being honest and realistic about what we could do with our kitchen. Customer service has been amazing and being able to actually speak personally with the staff makes for everything to come together smoothly even if a little issue comes up. I would and have recommended this company to many. many thanks SKO
