Howdens - Newcastle

Howdens was established in 1995 and began with 14 depots. It now operates nearly 900 locations. The company is a British manufacturer and has held a Royal Warrant by Appointment to His Majesty the King to supply goods and services to Royal Households since 2025. In 2025, Mintel named Howdens the UK's number one supplier of trade kitchens.

Howdens operates a trade-only model, selling only to trade professionals. Its cabinets are manufactured in the UK from FSC and PEFC certified materials and carry a 25-year guarantee. Lamona appliances come with a 3-year guarantee as standard. Howdens offers kitchens, joinery, and hardware products.

Kitchen furniture, appliances, doors, flooring and worktops form the core of what this supplier offers, and the team handling those lines draws consistent appreciation. Chris is singled out for being exceptionally willing to help, while Dean is described as friendly, professional and knowledgeable, and Lindsay is credited with resolving a tight deadline by sourcing the right worktop and arranging next-day delivery. Several accounts highlight the ease of picking up spares for an existing kitchen, with staff carrying items out to vehicles without being asked.

A recurring theme is the readiness of the counter team to guide customers through choices and to sort out exchanges smoothly. Reviewers frequently point to the friendly, knowledgeable service and the speed with which queries are dealt with, and one long-standing customer notes that nothing was too much trouble. Help with loading purchases and a straightforward returns process are also mentioned. The range of cabinetry, appliances and flooring is described as well stocked, and the advice given on matching components is valued by those fitting out a kitchen. What emerges is a picture of a dependable counter where named staff make the difference.
